By Meena Thiruvengadam, Of DOW JONES NEWSWIRES

WASHINGTON -(Dow Jones)- The International Monetary Fund is no longer in discussions with Turkey about a potential loan program, an IMF spokeswoman said Tuesday.

"The recovery underway in the global economy and in global financial markets-- together with the economic policies being implemented by the Turkish authorities ... have strengthened Turkey's economic outlook, " IMF spokeswoman Caroline Atkinson said.

The IMF is next scheduled to visit Turkey in May to conduct a regular assessment of its economy. "The upcoming staff mission will assess in detail the latest developments affecting the Turkish economy, and will exchange views with the Turkish authorities on the outlook and on their policy plans," Atkinson said.
